For many Rutgers University–Camden students, earning a degree is only one step in a larger journey toward economic mobility and career success. A new $2.9 million federal grant will help ensure that more students have the support, experiences, and professional connections needed to reach those goals.

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded Rutgers–Camden a highly competitive Strengthening Institutions Program (SIP) grant, providing more than $582,000 annually over five years. The funding will help launch the new Career Readiness and Internship Success Program (CRISP), an initiative designed to connect students more intentionally to internships, mentoring, career coaching, and workforce opportunities throughout their undergraduate experience.

The grant builds on a foundation established through Rutgers–Camden's Division of Student Academic Success and the Career Development Center, which provides services ranging from academic advising and tutoring to career advising, résumé and interview preparation, internship and job-search resources, and employer networking opportunities.
